Health: Improving Access to Healthcare and Nutrition
Our health initiative addresses the critical challenges faced by the Katkari community in Mulshi, focusing on reducing malnutrition, improving maternal and child health, and enhancing access to healthcare services. Through a collaborative effort between Sathi, Rohan Builders, ICDS and the Health Department, we have adopted a community-driven approach for sustainable health outcomes.
Our Goals
- Reduce Malnutrition
Timely identification and treatment of malnutrition among children under six years. - Combat Anemia
Address anemia in adolescent girls and women through regular health check-ups and nutritional interventions. - Promote Institutional Deliveries
Increase awareness and accessibility of institutional delivery services for pregnant women. - Enhance Healthcare Access
Bridge gaps in health and nutrition services by building community trust and improving service delivery. - Revive Food Diversity
Promote traditional food practices and Nutri-gardens to combat nutritional deficiencies.
Our Approach
- Implementation Partnership
This initiative is implemented in collaboration with SATHI, our trusted partner with extensive experience in community health and nutrition. Their expertise ensures that interventions are effective, community-centric, and sustainable. - Community Participation
- Health and Nutrition Advocates: Trained Aarogya-Poshan Sobtins act as community nutrition advocates, conducting home visits, promoting healthy practices, and assisting families with accessing healthcare services.
- Village Committees: Active participation of Village Health, Sanitation, and Nutrition Committees (VHSNCs) ensures accountability and local problem-solving.
- Targeted Health Programs
- Monthly growth monitoring and follow-up for undernourished children.
- Health check-up camps for children under six and adolescent girls, including anemia screenings and deworming programs.
- Regular health check-ups, immunization, and counseling for pregnant and lactating women.
- Capacity Building and Awareness
- Training sessions for Anganwadi workers, Asha workers, and Sobtins to improve skills in addressing malnutrition, maternal care, and anemia.
- Community awareness campaigns on health and nutrition services, the importance of institutional deliveries, and healthy practices during pregnancy and early childhood.
- Reviving Food Diversity
- Establishing Nutri-gardens at the household level to promote the cultivation and consumption of nutritious local crops and forest vegetables.
- Organizing Green God’s Fairs (Hirvya Devachi Jatra) to educate families on traditional food practices and nutritional benefits.
- Strengthening Local Systems
- Conducting monthly meetings to review and address gaps in healthcare delivery with local stakeholders, including health workers and panchayat members.
- Facilitating dialogues at village and block levels to resolve issues related to healthcare accessibility.
- Data-Driven Decision Making
- Implementation of a mobile app for real-time data collection and analysis of health and nutrition indicators.
- Regular monitoring and evaluation of intervention outcomes, including success stories and lessons learned.
