Housing: Building Stability and Security

For the Katkari community, stable and permanent housing is more than just a roof over their heads—it’s a foundation for safety, dignity, and a better quality of life. Our housing initiative addresses critical challenges while creating long-term solutions for the community.

Facilitating Government Funding

Connecting beneficiaries to housing schemes like Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) and Aadim Vikas Yojana ensures they receive the financial support necessary to construct their homes. This process includes guiding them through applications and advocating for the timely release of funds at each stage of construction.

Ensuring Timely Fund Disbursement

The release of government funds often faces delays due to bureaucratic hurdles. Regular follow-ups with government departments ensure that funds are disbursed on time, preventing construction delays and helping beneficiaries move into their homes faster.

Improving Design and Quality

Many government-funded homes lack proper design or durable construction. By involving experts from our construction department, we ensure homes are built to withstand the test of time. Proper roofing, sturdy walls, and good ventilation protect families from the harsh conditions of Mulshi’s heavy rains. With current housing conditions, families face leaking roofs and wet floors, leaving even infants in dire circumstances. Pukka homes provide safety and comfort, shielding families from such challenges.

Supplementing Government Funds

Government grants often fall short of covering the cost of building functional, durable homes. We supplement these funds, bridging the gap to ensure that homes meet quality standards and provide a sense of permanence to their inhabitants.

How Pukka Homes Transform Lives

  1. Permanent homes protect families from leaking roofs, waterlogged floors, and other challenges posed by extreme weather. This stability is especially crucial for children, who no longer have to endure unsafe and unhealthy conditions.
  2. Reduced Migration:
With stable housing, families are less likely to migrate in search of temporary shelter. This allows them to establish roots in their community, enabling children to attend school consistently and families to focus on livelihood opportunities locally.
  3. Improved Health and Hygiene:
A well-built home offers a cleaner and safer environment, reducing the spread of illnesses caused by dampness, cold, and poor sanitation.
  4. Dignity and Community Integration:
A permanent home instills a sense of pride and belonging, making it easier for families to integrate into the social fabric of their village. It serves as a symbol of progress and hope for the future.
  5. Focus on Livelihood and Education:
Stable housing allows families to focus on improving their livelihood and supporting their children’s education rather than worrying about frequent relocations or unsafe living conditions.

Through these efforts, the housing initiative is not just about building structures—it’s about transforming lives and empowering the Katkari community to create a stable and promising future.
